Document Title

The document title is displayed on the EDB Document Library screen as shown below and is used for document identification purposes.  The length of the title is now checked to ensure that all the text/characters will fit into the standard EFB button.

Document Abbreviation/Acronym

The document abbreviation/acronym is displayed on the EDB Document Library screen as shown below and is used for document identification and selection purposes.  The abbreviation/acronym is common to all pre-loaded document versions.  It can be up to six characters long and accepts only alphanumeric characters such as 'A-Z', 'a-z', '0-9'. No special characters are allowed.

Document Revision Number

The document revision number can be up to ten characters long and accepts only alphanumeric characters such as 'A-Z', 'a-z', '0-9'. No special characters are allowed.

Examples:  A1, A2, 10, 1.0

Document Nomenclature

The document nomenclature can be up to twenty characters long and accepts only alphanumeric characters such as 'A-Z', 'a-z', '0-9'. No special characters are allowed.

Examples:  Alpha, Bravo1, 1234

Target

Target Specific documents will be associated with a Major, Minor and Engine Model and will only be accessible on an EFB device with a matching Target.

Non-Target Specific documents should be associated with the Target Type of 'ANY'. A library can have a combination of target specific and ANY documents.

Document Effective Date

The date the document will be considered effective. If effective date is omitted, the document is considered to be effective immediately. When pre-loading a document, effective date is required for the pre-load version.

Document Expiration Date

The date the document will expire.  The expiration date is optional for Add/Modify document operations but is required for existing documents when pre-loading a new version.  If expiration date is omitted, the document is considered to be effective indefinitely.

Preloaded Document Effectivity

Use the Pre-load Document function to upload an updated version of an existing document prior to the expiration of the existing document. The updated version will automatically become effective when the existing version reaches its expiration.

Specifying an expiration date for the existing version of the document is required when pre-loading an updated version.

The following effectivity scenarios are supported:

Document Upload

Per the Boeing DDK (Document Deployment Kit) PDF, XML and HTML are supported document formats. Documents that are partitioned into multiple files including image files must be contained in a ZIP file.
When zipping XML documents, the files should be incorporated at the root level. For example, if the XML document contains folders named DTD, Images, Style and XML, select all these folders for adding to zip.
Due to current zoom design constraints (all versions of a document share common zoom settings), the format of a pre-load document must match the format of the original uploaded version of the document

Specify Table of Contents (TOC)

TOC input is required when uploading multiple-file PDF documents or when uploading multiple-file HTML documents that do not include a DDK-compliant TOC.xml file. TOC elements are represented by individual HTML or PDF files in the Available Files list. Elements can be added to the TOC Hierarchy window and arranged in a tree structure using the New Folder and Up/Down command buttons. A maximum of 10 TOC levels are supported.

To add an element to a folder, create the folder and select it in the TOC Hierarchy window. Select an item from the Available Files window and click Add.

Library Title

The library title is used for library identification and selection purposes within the EDB CAM.  It is not displayed on the EDB.  It can be up to 30 characters long and accepts any characters.
